Quantum Opportunities for Teachers
SUMMER 2025. LINK FOR APPLICATION https://utaedu.questionpro.com/teacher25
The Quantum for All workshop/camp will be June 18-26, 2025. The first 4 days will be the teacher workshop (June 18-21) and then you will have a day to relax, see local attractions, plan, or whatever before we have the students come on June 23-26. June 23-26 participants will teach the students attending the Quantum Camp. The content for the camp will be the same content participants learned which gives teachers an opportunity to practice what they have learned in a low stress environment supported by their colleagues.
The lessons are currently being written to be in the 5E learning format in order to facilitate easier implementation in the classroom. We currently have designed the topics below as our options for the workshop/camp but some may be shortened due to time needed to adequately cover the content. Topics include:
- Atomic Structure (spectra, energy transitions, classical vs quantum, quantum dots), Cloud Chambers, particles
- Malus's Law, polarization, superposition, cryptography, cybersecurity
- Wave Particle Duality, Mach Zehnder, LIGO
- Planck's Constant, Photoelectric Effect, UV Catastrophe
Quantum for All supports high school teachers who want to embed quantum concepts, that do NOT rely on advanced mathematics, in their curriculum. By providing mentors, equipment, and opportunities to "practice" what they have learned with other peers, our project is built to develop confidence and expand knowledge of quantum information science principles.
